About Me
First and foremost, I am a parent. I have a son and a daughter, now at university, so I know the trials and tribulations of being a parent. I am also a professional coach and a qualified teacher with masses of experience spanning thirty years.
I understand that in today's society we don't always have family on the doorstep to offer support and even if we do, that advice can be confusing. I also know that even if we can find out information on the internet, that is not the same as talking to an expert who has professional experience and an impartial opinion.
I have been supporting and advising families for over thirty years. After I qualified as a teacher, I worked as a residential teacher in a co-educational, independent boarding school. This was, at times, challenging to say the least, but gave me masses of experience, living and working so closely with teenagers and advising their parents.
Subsequently I taught in state primary and secondary schools.
I have specialist knowledge of dyslexia, ADHD and dyspraxia, as well as personal experience as a parent of a dyslexic.
Over the years I have advised parents on everything from their child’s behaviour, choosing the right school, getting the best out of parents’ nights, subject choices and university choices.
I established my coaching practice several years ago . I coach face to face, and by telephone and email. As well providing parent coaching, I also work as a Personal Development Coach.
I have a Diploma in Coaching and am a Member of the Association for Coaching. This is one of the three main professional coaching organisations in the UK. My training had to be accepted by them, and I work within their code of ethics which includes utmost confidentiality, and I am constantly up-dating my knowledge. I am also fully insured.
In the media I am frequently contacted by the media when they are looking for expert advice. I have written for Woman magazine, My Child, Prima, Essentials, ABC magazine, the Daily Express, and been invited to speak on My Baby Radio and local BBC radio on parents' work-life balance, choosing the right school, children with dyslexia.
